I'm what some people call a serial hobbyist. From learning everything I can about hobbies ranging from wood carving, to playing the ukulele and harmonica, to straight razor shaving (yes, I was really into that at a point...but don't chirp it until you try it), I tend to get fascinated with something new and learn all I can about it. Many of these hobbies have come and gone, but the one thing that definitely has stayed with me throughout my early childhood to now has been my fascination with cars, and now the BMW E30 (especially that M3). What makes this fascination different from the rest is the fact that once I can buy an E30 M3 of my own, theres never going to be a plateauing effect of things I can learn, skills I can learn to tune up my ride.
My life is about to become pretty busy really quick, as it should be. As a final semester senior in college, I'm going to be leaving the life of waking up at 11 AM on a Tuesday and heading out for a nice drive down an empty I-85 just for the hell of it. In the next chapter of my life, I'm fortunate enough to have the opportunity to pick up a stethoscope and head to medical school. An extremely exciting yet daunting step in my life. But that is where Automotive Adrenaline, my Instagram, and this blog come in.
I've come to realize that part of being successful in anything you do is balance. To be a top level athlete or musician, you need to find that optimal balance of training with everything you have and taking down time to recover. I'm really hoping to find that same balance as I progress as a medical student and eventually as a physician. I think that this interest in the BMW E30, the writing of these posts, and the ever-present goal of working towards getting an E30 of my own is going to be an amazing part of my school/career/life balance. It's a truly liberating feeling to stop stressing or thinking about things going on in my student life or personal life, and for a few minutes a day just learn something new about the E30, 3-Series, or any car for that matter. Even better is the feeling of taking a few minutes out of my day to go for a relaxing drive.
I hoping that this website and blog can help me make a few leaps closer to getting that E30, so I can start exploring all of the incredible learning opportunities it has to offer. The idea that I could take a car, learn everything I can about it, and spend years slightly tuning it and making it a little more custom to my interests excites me a ton and will give me a great way to unwind from everything else. Hopefully with the help of this blog and website, I'll be taking a few steps towards an E30.
Thats one of my reasons for wanting to get a BMW E30. What was/is your reason? Leave a Comment Below!
